"The title is taken from whisper dishes, also known as parabolic acoustic mirrors. They are large, curved dishes that demonstrate how sound waves can be focused and heard over long distances. They are often used as exhibits in science museums.
A similar phenomena are whispering galleries. The domed geometry of whispering galleries, like those in St. Paul’s Cathedral and Grand Central Terminal, amplify sound waves so that whispers can be heard from far away.
n this work I use a found object and reclaimed horsehair, a material used previously for bedding and furniture and, in that regard, alive with history. Through these materials I can hear whispers from the past." Nicola Turner
