Peter Kalkhof's works are bright and strikingly colourful. He uses single geometric forms and repeats shapes and colours, creating contrasts by positioning several intense colours against graduations of tones. In many of his works he sets off a wide spectrum of bold colours against shades of grey.
The works shown in this exhibition concentrate primarily on the relationship between the Circle and the Square and the dynamic between the Centre and the Periphery. The rectangular shape of the canvas becomes an important component in the composition of each work as it stands in relation to the circular forms within the work.
This is Peter Kalkhof's ninth exhibition at Annely Juda Fine Art. It comprises twenty-five recent works, mostly paintings but also works on paper and a floor installation. The work Colour-Space- Texture, 5.5 meters long, consists of 18 vertical panels. Each component has its own character with many employing various textures and materials such as egg boxes or CDs. The work, however, maintains a sense of coherence that reflects the unity of the body of works in the exhibition.
Peter Kalkhof had his first one man exhibition at Annely Juda Fine Art in 1970 and has been exhibited widely in the UK and Abroad.
