In an exciting evolution of our traditional programme featuring established artists and estates, Annely Juda Fine Art proudly presents ‘Changing The Subject’, a unique summer exhibition, showcasing new work by eight emerging artists at the start of their promising careers.
In 1968, Annely Juda established her eponymous gallery with son David and together they demonstrated a pioneering commitment to avant- garde art. They championed British Abstraction, supporting bold voices that challenged the prevailing trends of the time.
It has been our immense pleasure to select these eight young artists, all of whom were either born, trained or live in the UK, honouring our home-nurtured talent, just as Annely and David have. Each artist brings a distinctive practice that engages with art of the past, adding modern nuances to traditional genre subjects.
Contemporary themes run throughout the works in this exhibition, with varying degrees of explicitness: from hints of twentieth-century fashion to environmental concerns to reflections on mental health and modern love. Predominantly presented within the familiar architecture of landscape and portrait painting, these eight artists adeptly balance the heritage of art history with paths of new invention. Though distinct in their respective voices, they each produce works that are beautiful, relevant and urgent and we are excited to be collaborating with them.
